Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny sleepy town. Many people who don't know the name mistakenly believe that it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually it is the West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. But it's not the case. Brugel grew to be a young woman living in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. Her first ambition was to be an expert dancer. But, a growing spurt caused her to outgrow her dance partners she had. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels, I'm 6 feet and 1 inch." As I got bigger than my male dancers, I decided to quit. Many former dancers turn to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was an urging from her high school teacher of drama. Her teacher invited her to take part in an audition in the school's production. It was her choice to take on the principal character for Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Since then, Brugel has been involved in more than 60 shows, large and small. The most notable was the time she was cast as Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 and was only seen on occasion.
